Hi, my name is Whitney and “Hungry Mermaids” is the whimsical brain child of my 12 years as a private yacht chef and my fine art career (yep, that’s entirely hand-drawn by your’s truly!), From the Atlantic to the Pacific, I have created hundreds of different dishes over the years which I now want to share with my clients on land! I have worked with scores of different clients from 60ft yachts to 150’ foot ones feeding crews of 12! Learn more about background here.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Whitney in August 2024. Whitney was the chef on a yacht that I had chartered for my family in the San Juan islands for 6 days. It was my first experience having a private chef, but it won’t be the last!

Whitney did a fabulous job creating a menu for 6 adults and 2 preteen boys. Everything she made was delicious and enjoyed by all, which is not always an easy feat for our group. The meals were always thoughtful and timed perfectly. During out last meal as a family, we all went around the table to discuss our favorite meal. Just a few of the favorites were the Pad Thai, chicken pesto paninis, homemade gnocchi, lobster ravioli, soup with bacon wrapped sour dough and the French toast.

On top of being a great chef, Whitney was also a lovely person and pleasant to interact with. I would hire her to be my personal chef again in a heartbeat. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions.

I’m writing a reference letter for Chef Whitney to explain her incredible talent as a yacht chef. First off Whitney is the most organized chef we have ever had on our yacht over the last 9 years of operation. No matter where she is in her meal preparation, the galley is never messy, and always looks organized. Her calm and warm personality fits so well with all the guests and crew she works with. Le Canard had a 7 day charter for an unexpected 12 guests, in which the crew was put in a very tough situation. Whitney without batting an eye, just rolled with the increased workload, including served multiple breakfast times as the guests had many different wakeup times.

This group was composed of very well-known personalities, who expect 5-star service, and Chef Whitney surpassed them.
